Kelly Osbourne Condemns Becky Lynch Over Respectful Remembrance of Ozzy Osbourne and Birmingham

Kelly Osbourne, daughter of the late rock icon Ozzy Osbourne, has publicly condemned WWE star Becky Lynch for a recent promo that targeted both her father and his hometown of Birmingham. The incident occurred during Monday Night Raw, where Lynch, playing her villainous character, made disparaging remarks about Birmingham, referencing its past and present state.

The promo stirred significant controversy, with many in the wrestling community and beyond expressing outrage at Lynch’s comments, particularly given the recent passing of Ozzy Osbourne in July. Lynch, the women’s intercontinental champion and one of the top heels on the RAW roster, appeared to play up her character’s villainous role with a mix of humor and sharp rhetoric during her promo. She reflected on her own past attempts to join WWE 13 years ago, before criticizing the city of Birmingham for its perceived lack of progress.

‘Yeah, the only good thing that came out of here died a month ago. But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to L.A. – a proper city. Because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die too,’ Lynch said during her promo.

Osbourne’s response was swift and emphatic. In a post on her Instagram Stories, she called Lynch a ‘disrespectful dirtbag’ and expressed her disappointment in WWE for allowing such statements to be made about her father and his home. ‘Shame on the WWE for allowing such things to be said about my father and his home,’ she wrote, underscoring her frustration with the organization’s handling of the situation.

The backlash led to a brief brouhaha between Nikki Bella and Lynch, though they reportedly reconciled before the event. They were set to face each other in a match at Clash in Paris, scheduled for Sunday. This incident has reignited discussions about the responsibility of performers to respect the legacies of those who have contributed to the industry, even in the context of fictional storytelling.
