Dietitian Reveals How to Enjoy McDonald’s Without Gaining Weight

Dietitian Lauren Manaker has provided insight on how to enjoy McDonald’s meals without undermining weight goals. She points out that items like the cheeseburger, Filet-O-Fish, and Egg McMuffin offer essential nutrients such as protein and iron, which can be beneficial if consumed in moderation.

‘While fast food is often associated with weight gain, these options can fit into a balanced diet if paired with healthier sides like salads or fruits,’ Manaker said. She also advised avoiding sugary sauces and opting for low-sodium alternatives to keep calories in check.

McNuggets and the McChicken sandwich are suitable choices as long as dipping sauces are omitted. Additionally, Manaker recommends drinking water or unsweetened tea with meals to maintain a lower calorie intake. She emphasized that these meals should not be a regular part of a diet, but can be enjoyed as occasional treats.

‘The key is planning ahead and integrating more nutrient-dense foods like fruits, veggies, and lean proteins into everyday meals,’ she stated. Fitness trainer Jill Charton also contributed, encouraging people to bring a healthy snack when eating out to create a more balanced meal.
