Florida Uses Robot Rabbits to Combat Burmese Python Invasions

Florida is deploying 120 robot rabbits as part of an innovative strategy to control the invasive Burmese python population in the Everglades. These solar-powered robotic bunnies mimic real rabbits with heat emissions and natural movements, serving as lures to draw out the snakes for removal. The initiative, led by the South Florida Water Management District and University of Florida researchers, aims to address the ecological damage caused by the pythons, which have devastated native species such as small mammals and birds.
