Virginia Medical Examiner Unveils Cause of Death for Former Biden U.S. Attorney

The medical examiner in Alexandria, Virginia has officially confirmed that former U.S. Attorney Jessica Aber, who passed away in March, died from sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), a condition that led to her unexpected death at home. The official ruling was announced by the medical examiner’s office, bringing clarity to the cause of her passing.

Earlier this year, police had stated that there was no evidence suggesting anything other than natural causes for Aber’s death. However, her family had previously shared that she had been living with epilepsy and related seizures for many years. This background information was released by her family shortly after her passing, reinforcing the medical examiner’s findings.

Jessica Aber, 43, served as the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2021 to 2,025 before resigning on January 20, the day President Donald Trump returned to the White House. In her resignation letter, she described her time in the role as ‘an honor beyond measure’ and expressed gratitude for the support from key senators and President Biden.

During her tenure, Aber was involved in high-profile cases, including the prosecution of ex-CIA analyst Asif Rahman, who pleaded guilty to leaking top-secret documents about an Israeli plan to strike Iran. She condemned the leaks as a violation of the law and emphasized the risks they posed to national security and foreign relations.

Aber also received the Department of Justice’s Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service in 2019, recognizing her work and contributions to the legal community. Her professional legacy, particularly in handling complex litigation and national security cases, reflects her significant impact on the legal field and public safety.
