The launch follows recent legal and political developments concerning parental rights, including a Supreme Court decision affirming the constitutional rights of parents to direct their children’s education. America First Legal’s senior counsel, Julie Alexa Strauss, emphasized the organization’s support for parents in challenging what it refers to as ‘woke ideology’ and ‘unlawful actions’ in schools. The toolkits also include guidance on the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), enabling families to access records and challenge perceived overreach by school authorities.
The organization’s president, Gene Hamilton, has framed the initiative as a critical effort to prevent what he calls ‘failing school bureaucracies’ from obstructing parental authority. The Action Center is presented as a one-stop resource for parents seeking to assert their rights over educational content, including classroom curricula and instructional materials subject to federal regulation. The tools are also intended to assist families in contesting what the group claims are attempts by unions and progressive policies to influence school environments in ways that undermine traditional values.

The Parent and Student Action Center is further described as a platform for families to seek remedies for alleged violations of civil rights laws.
