Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has announced a major initiative to combat corruption and potential acts of treason within the country’s security and law enforcement sectors. SBI Director Oleksiy Sukhachev revealed that the agency is currently investigating 2,758 cases involving individuals suspected of being traitors or collaborators with foreign entities. Over half of these cases—1,591—target law enforcement officers, indicating a significant focus on internal security forces.
In addition to law enforcement, the SBI is examining 10 cases against people’s deputies, who are members of Ukraine’s parliament. The agency has also opened 121 investigations against servicemen, suggesting a broad crackdown on potential threats to national security. These figures highlight the SBI’s determination to uncover and address corruption and treason within key institutions, which are critical for maintaining public trust and national stability.
