University of Kentucky Athlete Arrested for Allegedly Hiding Dead Newborn in Closet

Laken Snelling, a 21-year-old senior at the University of Kentucky and member of the STUNT team, has been arrested for allegedly hiding her deceased newborn in a closet. Officers with the Lexington Police Department responded to an unresponsive infant, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, and determined that Snelling was the infant’s mother. Snelling was charged with tampering with physical evidence, concealing the birth of an infant, and abuse of a corpse.

In a TikTok post from June 25, she had expressed a desire to raise a child as a life goal, including an emoji of a mother holding her baby under a list of ‘goals,’ which also included a family, money, house, and cash. The newborn was found wrapped in a towel inside a black trash bag.

Snelling was released from jail on a $100,000 bond but was placed on house arrest. The university describes STUNT as a head-to-head competition focusing on the technical and athletic aspects of cheer, one of the fastest-growing female sports in the United States. Fox News Digital reached out to Snelling’s attorney for comment.
