New Jersey Street Takeover Turns Violent as Fireworks Used Against Police

During the Labor Day weekend, Secaucus, New Jersey, witnessed a chaotic event as over 100 people took over a local road, engaging in reckless driving and making donuts at an intersection. The situation escalated when police arrived to find a group of over 50 individuals surrounding their vehicles, with some climbing on top and causing damage to the cruisers. In an attempt to defuse the situation, authorities described the incident as ‘riotous’ and reported that several individuals used fireworks as weapons, shooting them at and under police vehicles. This act of defiance, as per authorities, led to the involvement of local agencies from neighboring towns to assist in dispersing the unruly crowd, with no injuries reported among the officers.

The Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller, in a statement, praised the department for its restraint during the incident and vowed to take decisive action. Miller emphasized that the department would dedicate resources from the Traffic Bureau, Detective Division, Patrol Division, and Intelligence Section to form a Task Force aimed at identifying the individuals responsible for the riotous behavior. The chief also expressed determination to ensure that such criminals do not operate with impunity in the city. Authorities are actively seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspected individuals, particularly those seen in the video footage of the incident. They have urged anyone with relevant information to contact the police, highlighting the importance of community cooperation in resolving such cases. The Secaucus Police Department has not yet responded to Fox News Digital’s request for further comments.
