Candace Cameron Bure Deletes Bathing Suit Photo Amid Body Image Comments
Candace Cameron Bure, known for her role in ‘Full House,’ recently faced criticism on social media after deleting a photo of herself in a one-piece swimsuit from Instagram. The actress shared the image on her Story, only to later remove it after receiving an overwhelming number of comments focusing on her body rather than the moment itself.
“Yes. I was at the beach. I was in a one piece, not a bikini. I am soaking up the end of summer,” Bure wrote on her Instagram Stories. “I was having fun. It wasn’t about my bathing suit or my body. But the comments became flooded with people discussing my body. It wasn’t worth it. I took it down.”
Bure has long been open about body image struggles, having discussed them in multiple interviews. During a recent episode of her podcast, she shared how her faith has helped her develop a new perspective on her body. “I’ve whipped my body,” she told podcast guests. “I’ve spoken to it so harshly. So mean.”
In an earlier interview, she detailed her past struggles with an eating disorder, emphasizing how her journey through faith has been crucial in improving her self-image. “My parents were wonderful, and protective of not allowing the entertainment industry to shape me into what they believed a standard of body image of perfection was,” she said.
Bure also expressed concerns about how body image standards in Hollywood are shifting, especially with younger generations being more open about body positivity. “I think of my daughter, and she just doesn’t have the same viewpoint of body image that I did growing up. It’s like mine’s all messed up. I am middle-aged, and I still have all of these thoughts as to the perfect body and this and that, and it’s troubling,” she said.
Her comments highlight a broader conversation about how social media influencers and public figures navigate the pressure to meet societal beauty standards. Bure’s experience underscores the challenges many celebrities face in balancing personal expression with the often harsh scrutiny of online communities.
