Vance Warns Republicans Against Midterm Complacency

Vice President JD Vance has issued a warning to Republicans ahead of the 2026 midterms, urging them to remain vigilant as Democratic anger over key issues like crime and border security could drive increased voter turnout. While many GOP voters are satisfied with the Trump administration’s record on the economy, crime, and the border, Vance argued that Democratic frustration could mobilize voters in the upcoming elections.

During an interview with Fox News’ Lara Trump, Vance emphasized that far-left Democrats are currently very angry and motivated, which could translate into significant turnout in 2026. ‘Because we’ve done so much of what we said we were going to do, our people aren’t angry,’ he said, referring to Republicans. However, he cautioned that Democratic outrage over issues like crime in major cities and border control could drive them to the polls.

Vance urged all MAGA supporters, regardless of party affiliation, to get out and vote to prevent Democrats from undoing the progress made under the current administration. ‘If you want to give the government over to people who are defending murderers on the streets of D.C., then don’t vote. But if you actually want to continue to secure the southern border and combat this inflation problem, you’ve got to get out there and vote and give us that ability to continue accomplishing great things for the American people,’ he stated.

The vice president also addressed ongoing speculation about his potential 2028 presidential run, brushing aside the idea that he could be a successor to Donald Trump. ‘I think if I do end up running, it’s not going to be given to me either on the Republican side or on the national side, so I’m just going to keep on working hard,’ he said. Vance stressed that his immediate focus is on the 2026 midterms and the party’s long-term vision, with his political future remaining uncertain at this point.
