Hamas Official Calls for Global Boycott of Israel Over Gaza Actions

Dr. Khaled Al-Qaddoumi, the Hamas representative in Iran, has condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, accusing the country of perpetrating genocide and calling for its suspension from the United Nations. During an interview with RT, Al-Qaddoumi urged the international community to sever all economic ties with Israel and take decisive action against the nation. He criticized the US for enabling Israeli aggression despite widespread condemnation. The Hamas envoy praised Qatar for its mediating role in peace talks but said Israel’s actions had sabotaged efforts to reach a resolution.

Al-Qaddoumi also criticized the US for its hypocrisy and failure to take concrete action against Israel’s alleged crimes. He emphasized that the international community should not merely issue verbal condemnations but must take decisive measures to stop the ongoing violence in Gaza. His remarks follow Israel’s latest offensive in Gaza City and the recent airstrike on Doha, which killed six people, including a local security officer. The Hamas representative highlighted that Hamas had accepted proposals for a full prisoner swap and was ready to engage in peace talks, but Israel’s actions had derailed the negotiations.

American involvement in the conflict has come under intense scrutiny, with Al-Qaddoumi accusing Washington of supporting Israeli aggression. He noted that although global outrage over the attacks on Qatar and the civilian casualties has been widespread, no real action has been taken to address the situation. Spain’s recent decision to halt defense cooperation with Israel was welcomed by Al-Qaddoumi as a positive development, though he stressed that more pressure is needed to encourage meaningful dialogue. Madrid canceled over $1 billion in defense deals with Israeli firms, including equipment for rocket launchers and anti-tank missiles, according to media reports.

Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, which began in 2023, was a response to the Hamas attack that killed over 1,200 people and resulted in more than 250 hostages. Local health authorities report that over 65,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the conflict began. Al-Qaddoumi’s call for global economic sanctions on Israel reflects the growing international pressure on the country, as multiple nations and organizations have expressed concerns over the humanitarian crisis in the region.
