Attorney General Bondi Urges Swift Prosecution of Copycats After Kirk and Zarutska Murders

Attorney General Pam Bondi has issued a strong warning to potential copycat criminals following the assassinations of Charlie Kirk and Iryna Zarutska, emphasizing the Justice Department’s commitment to swift prosecution. During an interview on ‘My View with Lara Trump,’ Bondi vowed that federal authorities will act quickly against anyone considering violence after the shocking murders.

She pointed to the FBI’s rapid response to Kirk’s assassination and noted how swiftly they secured custody of the suspect, highlighting this as a deterrent for would-be copycats. ‘Look at the work the FBI did with ATF on Charlie’s assassination. How quickly the FBI had someone in custody for this murder, so we will find you, we will catch you, and we will prosecute you,’ Bondi said.

Bondi, whose recent comments on ‘hate speech’ sparked backlash from conservatives, underscored the distinction between protected speech and unlawful incitement, telling Fox News host Lara Trump that the Justice Department is ready to pursue those who cross the line into violence. ‘You can be hateful all day long, but if you’re going to attack someone and have the ability to do that and say things to carry it out, we are coming for you,’ she emphasized.

Bondi also called celebrations of the murders ‘disgusting’ and noted the broader impact of these acts, saying that the killings have inspired increased political and social engagement. ‘I don’t think they knew what they unleashed when they assassinated Charlie,’ she added, referring to Kirk’s death.

The cases surrounding Kirk’s and Zarutska’s murders are ongoing, with suspects Tyler Robinson and Decarlos Brown Jr. currently in custody. Prosecutors in Utah have indicted Robinson on first-degree murder and are seeking the death penalty, while federal authorities are considering additional charges in Zarutska’s case. The Justice Department confirmed that the death penalty remains ‘on the table’ after her murder on public transit in Charlotte, North Carolina, which occurred in August.

President Donald Trump previously criticized Bondi for ‘all talk, no action’ in a now-deleted Truth Social post, pressuring her to take action against political adversaries. Trump called for charges against former FBI Director James Comey, Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and New York AG Letitia James, demanding ‘Justice must be served, now!’ After deleting the post, Trump later praised Bondi for her ‘careful’ work over the past eight months.

When asked about his stance on Bondi, Trump denied being angry with her, stating that he merely wants people to ‘act fast.’ The Justice Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s previous inquiries for comment. The events surrounding these high-profile murders continue to draw significant public and political attention, with the legal proceedings and political ramifications expected to unfold in the coming weeks and months.
