Phil Mickelson Criticizes Democratic Reps for ‘Hateful Rhetoric’ After Charlie Kirk Assassination

Professional golfer Phil Mickelson has publicly criticized Democratic representatives Ilhan Omar and Jasmine Crockett following the assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. During a memorial service for her husband, Erika Kirk publicly forgave the alleged assassin, sparking widespread social media reactions. Mickelson praised her courage but contrasted it with Omar and Crockett’s comments, which he labeled as ‘hateful rhetoric.’ The incident has sparked a debate about the role of political discourse in reacting to violence and the broader implications of public figures’ speech.

Kirk spoke about her husband less than two weeks after his killing at a Utah Valley University event. Her bravery and courage during her speech at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, sparked a significant reaction across social media. Mickelson was among those who were deeply moved by her words. ‘Amazing strength, and amazing grace,’ Mickelson wrote on X, reflecting on her emotional display of forgiveness.

As Kirk offered her forgiveness to the alleged assassin accused of murdering the 31-year-old conservative influencer, Mickelson chided Omar and Crockett. ‘While (Ilhan) and Jasmine are speaking hateful rhetoric, Erika Kirk is saying this. I have no words. Amazing,’ he added. Omar received backlash after she insulted Charlie Kirk’s legacy in the wake of his killing. She addressed her recent social media posts in which she called Kirk ‘Dr. Frankenstein,’ doubling down on those comments and saying his legacy should be left in the ‘dustbin of history.’
