A conservative political action committee has launched a new portal enabling users to report teachers and administrators who have endorsed, justified, or downplayed the assassination of Charlie Kirk. This initiative, spearheaded by the 1776 Project PAC, aims to counter the narrative that conservatives are hypocritical about free speech by highlighting examples of educators who have supported or downplayed the murder.
Stefano Forte, the PAC’s executive director, emphasized that these individuals pose a threat to the next generation. ‘Many people are essentially happy that Charlie Kirk has been killed. And these people are in charge of the next generations,’ Forte remarked. The PAC claims the platform has already received an ‘endless stream of tips,’ indicating significant engagement from users.
The efforts of the PAC come amid a broader backlash against left-wing celebrations of Kirk’s assassination. Conservative activists have taken various measures to expose instances of online hate directed at Kirk, which has led to accusations from the left that the political right is suppressing free speech. Forte dismissed these claims as ‘ridiculous,’ arguing that the left has historically been indifferent to the free speech of conservatives.
‘When they had social power, they didn’t care about our free, speech at all,’ Forte said. ‘They didn’t care who was canceled for having basic Republican opinions, or fired for supporting Trump, or even for retweeting Charlie Kirk. The only speech they want protected is their own.’ He further warned that the actions of these individuals reflect a dangerous shift in mainstream politics.
In the academic sphere, social media posts celebrating, justifying, or downplaying Kirk’s assassination have been widespread, with many individuals facing repercussions for their statements. One notable case involved a George Washington University administrator who posted on Facebook that it was ‘fair’ that Kirk was killed and expressed ‘no thoughts’ and ‘no prayers’ over the killing. Fox News Digital first reported that this administrator was subsequently terminated.
‘It also points to something bigger: If you’re okay with Charlie Kirk being killed, then you’re likely okay with people who agree with him—or people further right than him—being killed too,’ Forte told Fox News Digital. ‘That’s a serious problem. So yes, we’re amplifying their speech. They chose to make it public. We’re just making sure people know what they said.’
Forte highlighted the extent of the issue, noting that far-left organizations like the DSA have even issued PSAs instructing their members on what to post. ‘The rot is incredibly deep,’ he remarked. ‘Some far-left organizations, like DSA, even put out PSAs telling their members what to post. It shows how many of these people are out there, self-reporting. They’ve gotten so comfortable in the cancel culture they built that they assumed only right-wingers could ever get in trouble for speaking their mind. They thought nothing would happen to them.’
