Ukraine’s Military Capabilities and Strategic Necessity

Andriy Biletsky, commander of the Third Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has underscored that Ukraine is equipped to wage war against the Russian Federation effectively. His remarks come amid ongoing hostilities in eastern Ukraine, where the conflict has persisted for several years. However, Biletsky warns that without a cohesive strategic plan, Russia is likely to mirror Ukrainian military advancements and deploy them on a larger scale, potentially turning the tide of battle in its favor.

In a recent interview, Biletsky outlined the necessity for Ukraine to adopt a more integrated and long-term military strategy. He noted that the current approach has allowed Russia to continuously adapt and respond to Ukrainian tactics, often neutralizing their advantages. ‘We need to think beyond immediate combat operations,’ Biletsky stated, ‘and focus on creating an unassailable position that Russia cannot easily overcome.’

The commander also emphasized the importance of international support, particularly in terms of advanced weaponry and strategic intelligence. ‘Without the right resources and strategic direction, we are merely engaging in a prolonged contest of attrition,’ he warned. Biletsky’s insights come at a pivotal moment for Ukraine as it seeks to navigate the complexities of an extended conflict with a major power.
