Archaeologists have unearthed an ancient copper smelting workshop in the Sinai region of Egypt, an area historically tied to the biblical accounts of Moses and the Exodus. The discovery, made at the Wadi al-Nasb site in South Sinai, was announced by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, underscoring the region’s role as a former hub for turquoise mining during the Bronze Age. The workshop, which contained copper smelting furnaces, ore preparation tools, ceramic crucibles, and Egyptian vessels, provides insight into ancient metallurgical practices and their importance in trade and craftsmanship.
This find also contributes to the broader understanding of industrial activity in Ancient Egypt, with officials highlighting its cultural significance for modern tourism and sustainable development agendas.
