Former Seahawks MVP Shaun Alexander Announces 14th Child on Live TV

Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander, a Seattle Seahawks legend, made headlines by announcing that his wife is pregnant with their 14th child during a live appearance on the ‘Up & Adams’ show. The revelation came after co-host Kay Adams mentioned his large family, prompting Alexander to share the news with his audience. The Seahawks star, known for his 2005 MVP season and Super Bowl run, expressed joy about the new addition to their family of 10 girls and three boys.

Alexander, who won NFL MVP honors in 2005, shared the news on the ‘Up & Adams’ show with Kay Adams after she brought up his ‘beautiful family.’ He revealed that they’re just now starting to tell people about the pregnancy, with Adams being the first on TV to learn. ‘We’re just now starting to tell people, but number 14 is in the belly,’ Alexander said, smiling. The revelation highlights the personal side of the former NFL star, offering a glimpse into his life beyond football.

Currently, Alexander and his wife, Valerie, have 10 girls and three boys, though he didn’t specify which number will be added with baby No. 14. Adams noted that while Philip Rivers, the Los Angeles Chargers’ legendary quarterback, is known for having 10 children, Alexander has surpassed him in family size. Rivers is one of the new first-time Pro Football Hall of Fame nominees, and Alexander expressed hope to one day be in the halls of Canton, too. ‘I want my kids to see the Hall of Fame. Am I asking too much?’ he said, showcasing his aspirations for his children’s future.

Alexander’s career was highlighted by his 2005 NFL MVP season, where he led the league in rushing yards (1,880) and rushing touchdowns (27) on 370 attempts over 16 games. His performance helped the Seahawks reach the Super Bowl that season, though they fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 21-10. He was named to three straight Pro Bowls from 2003-05, cementing his status as one of the league’s best rushers. Alexander played eight of his nine NFL seasons in Seattle, accumulating 9,453 rushing yards and 100 rushing touchdowns over 123 games (96 starts). His final season with the Washington Redskins in 2008 was brief, consisting of only four games.
