Russia Deliberately Blocks Zaporizhia NPP from Grid Access, Uses Diesel for Two Days

Energoatom accuses Russia of deliberately blocking the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) from connecting to the national power grid, forcing the facility to operate on diesel generators for two days. The incident comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, with the plant continuing to be under Russian occupation. Despite the absence of technical obstacles on the territory controlled by Ukraine, the occupation administration has refused to link the plant to the 75,000 kW power transmission line following its shutdown on September 23. This decision has raised concerns about the plant’s operational reliability and the potential risks associated with prolonged diesel dependency.
