U.S. Leads Global Surge in Antisemitism, Reports Highlight Rising Threat

A new report by the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) has highlighted a sharp increase in antisemitic incidents globally, with the United States leading the surge. According to the report, there were 694 antisemitic incidents tracked in August, with an average of 22.4 incidents per day, representing a 15.7% rise compared to August 2024. The U.S. accounted for the highest number of incidents, with 162 cases, a 13.3% increase from July.

The report attributes this spike to a persistent trend of anti-Zionist rhetoric and attacks against Jewish individuals and institutions, particularly in the wake of the October 7th massacre. Examples cited include swastikas painted on the Jewish Museum in Oregon and anti-Israel vandalism in St. Louis, where cars were torched. The CAM report also points to a significant number of incidents related to Israel, with 458 out of 694 incidents (66.3%) involving anti-Zionist sentiment.

Anti-Zionism is defined as opposition to the existence of the Jewish state, often linked to the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign and comparisons to Nazi ideology.
