Murder Suspect Mistakenly Released in Oregon, Recaptured After Multi-Day Manhunt

Authorities in Oregon have announced that a murder suspect, Ty Anthony Sage, was mistakenly released from Multnomah County jail and later recaptured after a multi-day manhunt due to a clerical error. Sage, 26, was erroneously released from the Portland jail after posting bail on Monday, according to the sheriff’s office. Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell condemned the error, stating that Sage should never have been able to post bail. The error led to a multi-day manhunt, culminating in Sage’s arrest at a gas station in Florence, Oregon. Sage faces second-degree murder and first-degree robbery charges for the 2021 killing of 15-year-old Lowgunn Ivey. The victim’s mother, Jodie Ramsey, expressed frustration and fear over the mistake, threatening to file a lawsuit against the county. A preliminary investigation suggests the error stemmed from a misinterpretation of a court order, prompting the sheriff to vow to improve administrative processes to prevent future mistakes.
