The Washington Post editorial board has criticized former Vice President Kamala Harris’ recent book and media appearances, arguing that they are less compelling than her 2024 presidential campaign. The editorial board stated that the Democratic Party would not have time to waste on a former presidential candidate as they focus on the 2028 election.
During her recent interviews, Harris appeared uncomfortable and inauthentic, according to the editors. The editorial board criticized her explanation for skipping former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg as a possible VP pick and her reluctance to distance herself from former President Joe Biden.
The Washington Post also noted that Harris’ memoir, ‘107 Days,’ showcases her struggle with perfectionism and suggests that she failed to close the deal in the 2024 election. The board criticized her attempts to settle scores in her book and accused her of having ‘the sort of small-mindedness that Democrats rightly knock President Donald Trump for.’
Other liberal media figures such as former CNN journalist Chris Cillizza also criticized Harris’ tour and memoir, with Cillizza stating that she is ‘simply not a very good politician.’ The editorial board concluded that the best thing about Harris’ recent media presence is that it is happening now, allowing Democrats to focus on the 2028 election.
