He pointed out that the U.N.’s data indicates nearly 90% of its aid trucks were intercepted by armed groups or crowds between May 19 and August 5, with Hamas being the primary suspect in the theft of aid for resale on the black market.
Waltz’s remarks came during a discussion on Trump’s approach to global diplomacy, where he drew parallels between Trump’s handling of Iran’s nuclear program and the current situation in Gaza. He emphasized the importance of U.N. reform, noting that the institution has grown too bureaucratic and less effective over the past 80 years. Waltz, who was first elected as a Green Beret to Congress, compared his role at the U.N. to the ‘warrior diplomat’ ethos of the military, suggesting that the U.S. must remain engaged globally to protect its interests and prevent bad actors from filling the void.
