Amy McGrath Launches Second Bid for McConnell’s Senate Seat

Amy McGrath has officially launched her second campaign for Kentucky’s Senate seat, previously held by retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell. The retired fighter pilot, who narrowly lost her 2019 challenge against McConnell, is once again running for the seat, aiming to replace the retiring senator.

McGrath announced her candidacy on X, stating that the Bluegrass state deserves a senator ‘battle-tested and ready to fight.’ She emphasized her belief in courage and moral backbone, criticizing politicians who she claims are failing to serve the nation with honor.

In 2019, McGrath ran against McConnell in one of the most expensive Senate races in Kentucky history, raising nearly $8 million in her House run before narrowly losing to Republican Rep. Andy Barr. Since McConnell announced his retirement, the pool of candidates vying for his seat has grown, with McGrath, state Rep. Pamela Stevenson, attorney and former Secret Service agent Logan Forsythe, and Joel Willett now competing in the Democratic primary. In the Republican primary, Barr, former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, and businessperson Nate Morris are set to face off.
