Odell Beckham Jr. Accepts Six-Game Suspension for Performance-Enhancing Drug Violation

Odell Beckham Jr., who last played for the Miami Dolphins, recently acknowledged his six-game ban after violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy. During an interview on “The Pivot Podcast,” Beckham revealed that high levels of testosterone in his system caused a failed drug test. While he maintains that he was unaware of any use of banned substances, he accepted his suspension, which will keep him out of action for six weeks.

Beckham, a three-time Pro Bowler, has ambitions of joining an NFL team in 2025, but any contract signed this year would see him sidelined for at least six games. The suspension, announced on the league’s official transactions wire, means week 12 will be the earliest he can play. The discipline follows a 2024 violation of the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Despite the suspension, Beckham remains a sought-after free agent, with interest from the Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, and several of his former teams, including the Giants and Rams. His career has seen multiple moves, including his trade to the Cleveland Browns in 2019 and subsequent stints with the Ravens and Dolphins. He also won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2022 before suffering a torn ACL in Super Bowl LVI, leading to a missed season.

Beckham’s performance in 2024 was limited, with just nine receptions for 55 yards. However, with his career receiving yards at 7,987, he remains a notable figure in the league. His recent comments on the podcast also include reflections on his time with the Giants, where he expressed his desire to remain, highlighting his strong attachment to the franchise despite his eventual departure.
