President Donald Trump is planning to visit Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, on Friday for a routine medical examination and to meet with troops. According to the White House, the president will undergo the checkup during his visit, marking his second annual medical exam of the year. Last month, Trump had a similar examination, during which his physician noted that he remains in excellent health, with robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function.
During the visit, Trump will also engage in a planned meeting and deliver remarks to military personnel stationed at the hospital. The White House press secretary, Karoline Leav, stated that the president will return to the White House after the visit. This trip comes as Trump is also considering a potential trip to the Middle East shortly thereafter, following recent developments regarding his peace deal with Hamas to end the war in Gaza and facilitate the return of hostages.
Trump’s recent health status has been a topic of discussion, especially after he was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition that affects the veins in the legs and can cause mild swelling. His physician described the condition as manageable, and Leavitt noted that the president has experienced mild swelling in his lower legs, which was evaluated by the White House medical unit. However, it has been reported that Trump has been showing no signs of any significant health issues, with doctors continuing to affirm that he remains in excellent health.
Recent photographs have raised concerns about the president’s physical condition, suggesting bruising and swelling on his hand. Leavitt attributed this to frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin. These observations, however, have not led to any significant health or medical concerns according to the White House medical staff. The continued reports of his health have fueled ongoing discussions about the president’s overall wellness, despite the medical team’s reassurances that he remains in prime condition.
