At a Thursday meeting, the Kyiv City Council’s deputies approved amendments to the City Target Program for Ensuring Readiness for Actions by the Purpose of the Territorial Subsystem of the Unified State System of Civil Protection of Kyiv for 2024–2025. The revised program, which now extends its validity until 2, includes provisions for the purchase of primary (mobile) shelters.
The decision follows growing concerns over the need for enhanced civil protection infrastructure amid ongoing security challenges. The mobile shelters are intended to provide temporary shelter and protection for civilians in the event of emergencies, including potential threats from conflict-related incidents. The program also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a functional and accessible civil protection system across all districts of Kyiv.
City officials highlighted the significance of the extended timeframe, allowing for more comprehensive planning and implementation of the measures. The purchase of mobile shelters is part of a broader effort to ensure that Kyiv remains prepared for various scenarios, including natural disasters and security threats. The Kyiv City Council emphasized that the project aligns with national security priorities and reflects the city’s commitment to safeguarding its residents.
