Steve Werkmeister, an English professor at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, has been found to advocate doxxing ICE agents and promoting anti-ICE activism on social media. His online persona, ‘Steve W,’ has been particularly vocal in encouraging community interference with Ice operations, viewing federal immigration enforcement as a form of ‘kidnapping.’ He has also posted about his fears of being targeted by ICE due to his ‘brown’ skin and expressed a desire to teach from overseas to ensure his family’s safety.
Werkmeister’s posts have included a variety of anti-ICE strategies, such as the use of whistles to disrupt ICE operations, which has been promoted by a left-wing advocacy group. He has also shared posts from far-left activists like John Pavlovitz, who encourages family members to ‘out’ relatives who work for ICE, labeling them as pariahs. These actions have underscored his deep-seated paranoia and anti-immigration sentiment, which he has publicly expressed about the risks facing people of color in the United States.
In an earlier post, Werkmeister claimed that white people are actively working to push ‘brown folks back to the fields,’ reflecting a broader pattern of racial tension and systemic inequality in the country. He has also expressed his dissatisfaction with the college’s response to his concerns, stating that the administration has been ‘compassionately noncommittal.’ Despite these criticisms, the college has reaffirmed its commitment to open dialogue and values, while Werkmeister has not responded to any requests for comment.
