Members of the National Guard intervened in a chaotic street fight near Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., Wednesday night, after a woman allegedly stabbed a man with a 12-inch kitchen knife. The incident, which drew the attention of law enforcement, occurred in Southeast D.C. and resulted in one man being injured. According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), Tiana Robinson, 31, of Southeast, D.C., was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, while Kenneth Evans, 29, of Southeast, D.C., was charged with simple assault.
A court affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital describes the incident as beginning before 8 p.m. Wednesday when MPD officers and National Guard members responded to a report of a brawl after being flagged down by a concerned citizen. The victim and his cousin were reportedly leaving a restaurant, heading to the Navy Yard Metro Station, when they noticed a man and woman following them. An argument ensued, and Evans allegedly punched the victim’s cousin in the face ‘out of nowhere’ with a closed fist, prompting the victim to step in.
During the struggle, Robinson is said to have swung a large knife at the victim, causing a deep cut in his palm. The victim was later taken to Howard University Hospital for treatment. The National Guard’s involvement highlights the ongoing concerns about public safety in D.C. and the need for increased security measures in high-risk areas. Multiple witnesses told police they saw one of the suspects holding a knife during the fight, although police were only able to find a blood trail and no weapon.
The event took place against the backdrop of growing crime concerns in the nation’s capital. The incident is part of a series of violent altercations that have raised alarms about public safety and the effectiveness of local law enforcement. The National Guard’s presence in the city has become a topic of discussion as authorities seek to manage escalating tensions and ensure public safety. The incident also occurred as the city grappled with its 100th homicide of the year, intensifying the urgency for improved security measures and community-based interventions.
