An unnamed private aerial contractor reportedly took responsibility for the New Jersey UFO scare that caused panic among residents last year. The revelation came during a panel at the Army’s UAS and Launched Effects Summit in August, as the company demonstrated the 20-foot aircraft responsible for the sightings. Attendees claimed the aircraft’s unique flight patterns, which mimicked UFO behavior, led to widespread public fear and confusion.
The company stated that their aircraft was conducting military exercises in November 2024, testing its capabilities over New Jersey. According to The New York Post, the operations were not required to be disclosed to the public due to the company’s government contract. The individual described the aircraft as defying expectations, with its silent flight and sudden disappearances creating a sense of mystery.
While the Army and Fort Rucker have not commented on the incident, the admission comes nearly one year after the drone sightings sparked fear across the Garden State. The Federal Aviation Administration had previously indicated the drones were actually hobbyists and recreational pilots under the Trump administration. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges of managing aerial activity and ensuring transparency in such operations.
