The FBI has released new surveillance footage from January 5, 2021, capturing previously unseen video of the individual suspected of planting pipe bombs near the Democratic and Republican National Committee offices in Washington, D.C. The agency is offering a $500,000 reward for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect. The video, posted on X, includes higher-quality images, longer clips, and footage of the suspect’s movements, providing new details about the individual’s actions during the incident.
The footage depicts the suspect carrying a backpack and placing bombs outside both the Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee offices between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. on the night of the Capitol riot. The individual disappears from view shortly after planting the explosive devices in Washington, D.C. The FBI described the suspect as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black gloves, and distinctive Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes with a yellow logo, while covering their face with a mask. The video shows the suspect first stopping briefly on South Capitol Street to set down a backpack believed to contain one of the bombs before sitting on a bench outside the DNC headquarters, where the first device is placed around 7:54 p.m.
Subsequently, the suspect moves toward the RNC headquarters, where the second device is planted at 8:16 p.m., before vanishing from view moments later.
