Kate Gosselin is preparing to spend Thanksgiving without her children as most are away at college and unable to make the trip home for the holiday. On Wednesday, Gosselin uploaded a TikTok video explaining her situation, stating that her children’s college commitments mean she will be celebrating with her current boyfriend, Steve Neild. The former reality star humorously joked about their Thanksgiving dinner plans, noting she wouldn’t be cooking and suggesting they get takeout. However, Steve proposed they go dancing instead, which Gosselin found rude. She acknowledged the sense of humor in his suggestion but expressed her own frustration with his choice.
Gosselin also mentioned her recent surgery for a fractured leg, which has left her unable to attend a dance event this year. She shared a photo from her hospital bed, expressing her gratitude for the support of her fans and reassuring them that she would be fine. Gosselin’s situation is further complicated by her estranged son, Collin, who has made various allegations of abuse and isolation during his youth. The ex-reality star recently addressed these allegations in the comments section of her TikTok post, writing ‘He knows why’ alongside a crying emoji, indicating her response to Collin’s previous accusations.
In September 2024, Collin reportedly claimed that he was abused by his mother, according to an interview with The Sun. He alleged that she isolated him from his siblings, confining him to an unfinished section of the basement and zip-tied his hands and feet before locking the door. Collin also stated that he was a scapegoat for his mother’s problems and that she was physically and verbally abusive. These allegations have contributed to the estrangement among the siblings, including Mady, who shared on Instagram that she is estranged from Collin due to his alleged threats toward their family.
Gosselin, who is now a nurse, had previously sent her son Collin to a behavioral health institution in 2016 due to his ‘unpredictable and violent behavior.’ Collin was at the program for 22 months and claimed he wrote letters to his father, Jon, to try to get him out. In 2018, Jon was awarded custody of Collin and Hannah, while Kate is not estranged from Hannah. Despite the ongoing family turmoil, Gosselin remains focused on her recovery and her plans for Thanksgiving, hoping to celebrate with Steve and her followers, while also addressing the complex dynamics within her family.
