DHS Reports ‘Most Violent Day’ in Operation Midway Blitz Amid Immigration Crackdown

DHS has referred to October 22 as ‘one of the most violent days’ of Operation Midway Blitz, describing the day’s events as a significant challenge to immigration enforcement in the Chicago area. The day saw the arrest of three illegal immigrants and six U.S. citizens involved in violent confrontations with law, enforcement.

In Cicero and Glendale Heights, law enforcement faced multiple threats and acts of violence, including vehicle ramming and physical assaults, as agents tried to enforce immigration laws. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin highlighted the dangers faced by officers during the operations, noting that the incidents put both law enforcement and the public at risk.

The incidents involved a range of actions, including threats of violence against agents and attempts to obstruct enforcement activities. One case saw a U.S. citizen allegedly threatening to kill a Border Patrol commander, leading to FBI involvement. In other incidents, citizens were accused of tailing Border Patrol vehicles or attempting to ram law enforcement units, resulting in arrests.

Operation Midway Blitz, launched in honor of Katie Abraham, who was killed in a hit-and-run by an illegal immigrant, aims to target illegal aliens involved in criminal activities in Illinois. The operation has been focused on enforcing immigration laws and ensuring public safety through these enforcement actions.
