Shooting at Lincoln University Leaves One Dead, Six Injured

A gunman opened fire at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania during homecoming weekend, killing one person and wounding six others. The incident occurred near Philadelphia and prompted a lockdown of the campus. Authorities have taken one suspect into custody and are investigating the shooting, while officials urge the public to avoid the area.

Lincoln University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU), is located about 45 miles southwest of Philadelphia and about 25 miles west of Wilmington, Delaware. This weekend marked the school’s homecoming festivities, with the main football game taking place at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Officials, including Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, have expressed their support for the university and the affected community. ‘I’ve been briefed on the shooting at Lincoln University tonight, and my Administration has offered our full support to President Allen and local law enforcement,’ Shapiro wrote on social media. The governor also urged the public to avoid the area, continue to follow local law enforcement guidance, and join Lori and him in praying for the Lincoln University community.

The City of Chester, Chester County, Chester County Police Department, Chester County Sheriff’s Office, and Lincoln University did not immediately respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital. This is a developing story, and further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
