Ukrenergo Seeks to Enhance Interconnector Capacity to Boost Electricity Imports from Europe

Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s state-owned energy company, is working in tandem with European partners to assess and expand the capacity of its electricity interconnectors, which currently allow for a 2,100 MW import limit. This initiative, according to CEO Vitaliy Zaichenko, is intended to bolster Ukraine’s energy self-sufficiency and its ability to import power from Europe, a key strategy in reducing dependence on Russian energy supplies. The effort reflects a broader push by Ukraine to diversify its energy sources and enhance grid reliability during a period of geopolitical uncertainty.
