Carys Zeta Douglas Channels Vintage Glamour at NYC Gala in Her Mother’s 20-Year-Old Dress
Academy Award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones and actor Michael Douglas’s daughter, Carys Zeta Douglas, made headlines by wearing her mother’s 20-year-old designer dress at the PAC NYC Icons of Culture Gala. The event, a celebration of cultural icons, saw Carys step into the spotlight with a look reminiscent of her mother’s iconic style.
The dress, once worn by Zeta-Jones in 2005 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, featured black lace accents, a fitted silhouette, and was completed with pointed black heels and ruby-hued earrings. This vintage ensemble paid homage to a legacy of glamour and style that Zeta-Jones has carried for over two decades.
While Catherine Zeta-Jones was unable to attend the gala due to work commitments, Carys embraced the opportunity to honor her mother’s fashion choices. She shared that her mother was unavailable, saying, ‘I’m sorry Catherine’s missing it tonight,’ expressing both disappointment and pride in the moment.
This was not the first time Carys has borrowed from her mother’s wardrobe. Previously, she wore the same dress to celebrate her 21st birthday, and she has also donned her mother’s pink and white floral Ungaro dress. Carys, a recent graduate of Brown University, explained her affinity for vintage fashion, noting, ‘I feel I love vintage clothes. I don’t really like to buy. I’m not really into fast fashion stuff, just for sustainability reasons.’ She admitted to sometimes borrowing ‘a little too much,’ with her mother humorously questioning, ‘Is that my bag?’ to which she replied, ‘I don’t know. I don’t think so…’
Following her college graduation, Carys has been exploring her future in the entertainment industry. While she earned her degree in film and international relations, she has a background in theater and aspires to continue pursuing that passion. Her father, Michael Douglas, was present at the event, wearing a black suit with a collared shirt and purple tie, posing beside his daughter. Douglas also shared his thoughts on the event, stating, ‘I’m very happy that Carys could be with me, just to be with her, but also I’m on the board here at PAC.’
In addition to Carys, the Douglas family includes son Dylan, who is also a Brown University graduate. Michael Douglas is also the father to Cameron Douglas from his first marriage to Diandra Luker. The couple, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, married in 2000 after meeting two years earlier. Though they briefly separated in 2013, they reconciled the following year, showing a resilient marital bond.
