White House Hosts Halloween Celebration with Trick-or-Treaters

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump got into the Halloween spirit on Thursday at the White House, hosting an annual Halloween celebration on the South Lawn. The event, which is a beloved tradition for families, featured trick-or-treat booths, festive autumn decorations, and a wide array of activities for children and their parents. The White House extended an invitation to thousands of trick-or-treaters of all ages, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.

According to a White House press release, the celebration included various trick-or-treat booths and autumnal decorations on the South Portico, such as falling leaves and a selection of jack-o’-lanterns. The president and first lady participated in handing out commemorative candies on the South Drive, adding a personal touch to the event. The United States Air Force Strolling Strings played traditional Halloween songs and modern tunes while the candy was being distributed, providing entertainment for all attendees.

Additionally, the event featured a ‘BE BEST’ postcard station, the first lady’s signature campaign slogan, facilitated by the U.S. Postal Service, which also provided toy mail trucks. The U.S. Department of Agriculture contributed by offering a ‘giant pumpkin’ photo opportunity and distributing miniature pumpkins from American farmers. The sweet treats were provided by the National Confectioners Association, while the International Fresh Produce Association supplied Washington state and New York state apples.

The celebration also saw participation and treats from various federal agencies and organizations, including America 250, NASA, the National Park Service, the U.S. Mint, the U.S. Secret Service, the White House Historical Association, and the Center of Science and Industry, according to the White House. The Office of the First Lady shared photos of the spooky decorations on X, highlighting the White House’s Halloween preparations and recalling past Halloween moments during Trump’s first term.

The White House continues to host a variety of annual holiday traditions, such as the historic White House Easter egg roll and the national Christmas tree lighting, alongside Halloween. The nation also looks forward to the first lady’s return to decorating the White House for the holidays, a dazzling tradition that incorporates trees, garland, ornaments, lights, and other American-sourced materials to reflect an overall theme.
