Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer had an unexpected encounter with wildlife while preparing for a game on Thursday night, as an owl flew around his living room. The 52-year-old coach, known for his meticulous game-planning, recounted the incident to reporters on Friday, calling it a ‘good omen.’ Schottenheimer explained that he was in a game-plan meeting when he received 72 text messages, including one from his son informing him about the owl. Despite involving family members, including his soon-to-be nephew, in the situation, they were unable to resolve the issue, prompting Schottenheimer to call animal control for assistance.
The owl was eventually removed with the help of animal control, who arrived equipped with a net similar to a pool net. Schottenheimer joked about gaining experience in wildlife management in Dallas, suggesting that he might consider a career in animal control. This incident marks the latest in a series of wildlife encounters for the coach, who previously dealt with snakes during a game against the New York Giants. Despite the snakes biting two of his dogs, the Cowboys came away with a victory. Schottenheimer humorously stated he would be willing to keep an elephant in his garage for a win, highlighting his lighthearted approach to the situation.
The Cowboys, currently sitting at 3-4-1, are set to face the Arizona Cardinals in their next game on Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET. While the outcome of the match remains uncertain, Schottenheimer’s latest experience with wildlife adds an unusual twist to the team’s season, blending humor with the pressures of coaching.
