The Miami Dolphins and general manager Chris Grier have mutually agreed to part ways following a disastrous season and a recent blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday. The decision came less than 24 hours after the Dolphins suffered a 28-6 loss to the Ravens, dropping them to 2-7 on the season. This marks the end of Grier’s tenure as general manager, which spans nearly a decade since 2016, and the team will move forward with senior personnel executive Champ Kelly as interim general manager.
Stephen M. Ross, Dolphins managing general partner, said in a statement that the decision was made with Grier to ‘mutually part ways’ and that they ‘need to improve’ in the upcoming seasons. The team has faced challenges this year, with three significant losses and a struggle to maintain consistency, despite last season’s success when quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was absent for six games due to injury. The Dolphins have shown some fight and are in close games at times, but their overall performance has not met expectations. Grier’s tenure as general manager concluded with a 77-80 record, including three playoff appearances.
The Dolphins are set to face the Buffalo Bills (5-2) at home on Sunday, Nov. 9, seeking to turn their season around after a difficult start. The team has yet to find the right formula for consistency, and with the change in leadership, they hope to address the challenges they’ve faced this season.
