Arizona Superior Court Judge Pro Tempore Kristyne Schaaf-Olson has resigned following an alleged incident of public urination near the courthouse where she worked. The event, which occurred around 1:30 a.m. on October 4, was captured on bodycam footage and prompted a swift police response. Witnesses reported seeing a woman relieving herself on Montezuma and Gurley Street, on the same block as the Courthouse Plaza. The footage shows Schaaf-Olson struggling to spell her name as the officer attempted to identify her, with her husband, Jason Olson, arriving on the scene to support her. The officer described the situation as ‘disgusting’ and took action to apprehend her, while Olson resisted police commands, leading to a physical altercation. The police eventually restrained and handcuffed Olson after he refused to comply. The incident resulted in Schaaf-Olson being cited for the misdemeanor offense of urinating in public, and her husband facing charges of resisting arrest and interfering with a crime scene investigation. The judge submitted her resignation, effective Oct. 31, citing personal, medical, and family-related reasons, expressing that her current circumstances made it difficult to continue serving the Yavapai County community. The pre-trial conferences for both Schaaf-Olson and Olson are scheduled for December 16 and November 18, respectively. The Prescott Police Department did not immediately respond to further inquiries from Fox News Digital.
