ICE Intensifies Crackdown on ‘Worst of the Worst’ Illegal Immigrants During Halloween Weekend
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) launched a major crackdown on dangerous illegal immigrants during the Halloween weekend, focusing on individuals convicted of serious crimes such as child sexual abuse, kidnapping, and homicide. The Department of Homeland Security reported that 70% of ICE arrests involve criminal illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the U.S., indicating the agency’s ongoing commitment to removing dangerous individuals from American communities.
One of the notable arrests was Sisawang Khambounheuang, a man from Laos, who was apprehended for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor in San Diego. Similarly, Milton Rene Mendez-Arevalo, a Guatemalan citizen, was arrested for a kidnapping conviction in Los Angeles. In Houston, where ICE made over 120 arrests, the agency targeted individuals such as Hector Eugenio Ramirez-Martinez, a Honduran national convicted of indecency with a child in Harris County, and Francisco Nava-Garcia, a Mexican national convicted of assaulting a family member.
The campaign extended to Texas, where Kunal Chhetri, an Indian national, was arrested for alien smuggling in the United States District Court, Western District of Texas. In Florida, ICE detained Lazaro Mateo Ruiz, a Cuban national, for a conviction involving homicide, weapon offenses, and robbery in Miami-Dade County. Juan Gomez-Gutierrez, a Colombian national, was also apprehended for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms of cocaine aboard a vessel in Tampa. Another drug trafficker, Juan Brito-Rios, from Mexico, was arrested for possessing and distributing heroin and cocaine, along with money laundering in the Middle District Court of Tennessee.
In Illinois, a sanctuary state that has resisted Trump administration policies, ICE arrested Brigidio Ovido Gomez Garcia, a Guatemalan national, for aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery, and driving under the influence in Wheaton, a Chicago suburb. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin commended ICE’s efforts, stating that despite pushback from pro-sanctuary politicians, the agency continues to target illegal aliens with criminal records. She also highlighted that President Trump supports the agency’s tactics and believes they haven’t gone far enough in removing dangerous individuals from the streets.
The arrests were part of a broader effort to ensure that individuals with criminal histories are not allowed to remain in the U.S. while posing a risk to public safety. Commentators have noted that these actions reflect a significant shift in the approach to immigration enforcement, emphasizing the prioritization of removing those with the most severe criminal records.
