President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the awarding of the Cross of Military Merit to Private Oleksandr Alikseenko and Junior Sergeant Oleksandr Tishayev of the Territorial Defense Forces (TRO) for their exceptional service during the war. Zelenskyy’s decision highlights the government’s commitment to honoring the bravery of soldiers who have dedicated themselves to the defense of Ukraine.

The Cross of Military Merit is one of Ukraine’s highest military honors, symbolizing the state’s recognition of outstanding bravery and service. Alikseenko and Tishayev’s prolonged stay at the front line, without a break, has become a symbol of the immense strain and sacrifice faced by Ukrainian soldiers. Their story has also gained recognition beyond the battlefield, as their dedication has inspired many to volunteer for the armed forces and support the war effort.
