Ukrainian President Signs European Integration Law Aiming to Strengthen Agricultural Sector Support

On October 31, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially signed European Integration Law No. 4619-IX, which amends existing legislation to establish a Paying Agency for the management, control, and monitoring of state support programs in the agricultural sector. The law is based on draft law No. 13202-1, which provides the organizational principles for the agency’s structure and operations.

As part of Ukraine’s ongoing integration with the European Union, this law aims to standardize the financial support mechanisms for farmers and agricultural enterprises, ensuring alignment with EU regulations. The Paying Agency will be responsible for overseeing the distribution of subsidies, grants, and other forms of assistance to the agricultural sector, which is a critical component of Ukraine’s economy. The initiative seeks to enhance transparency, improve efficiency, and ensure that state funds are used effectively in this sector.

Analysts suggest that this move is part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to strengthen its economic ties with the EU and prepare for potential membership. The law also reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing its agricultural policies and aligning them with international best practices. While the immediate financial impact on the sector is expected to be positive, further developments will determine the long-term effectiveness of the new framework.
