Ireland’s Soccer Federation Calls for UEFA Suspension of Israel

The Football Association of Ireland has voted to call for the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to suspend Israel from competition, joining nations like Norway and Turkey in similar calls. This resolution was passed with more than 50% of delegates supporting it, following a proposal from the Irish club Bohemians. The resolution was supported by the Football Association of Ireland, which cited two alleged violations of UEFA statutes by the Israel Football Association (IFA). The first is organizing clubs in occupied Palestinian territories without the consent of the Palestinian FA, and the second is the alleged failure of the IFA to enforce an effective anti-racism policy.
