Gordon Ramsay, the famous celebrity chef, criticized the trend of restaurants offering special, smaller-portion menus for diners using the weight loss drugs Ozempic and Mounjaro. During an explosive interview with The Sunday Times, the 59-year-old chef described this practice as ‘absolute bulls—.’ His remarks were in response to questions about whether his restaurants would need to adjust their menus to accommodate diners taking GLP-1 medications that can suppress appetite.
Ramsay expressed frustration with the idea that these dietary needs are being catered to, while also venting about the impact of influencer culture and poor phone etiquette in restaurants. He slammed the behavior of American diners who he claims are the ‘worst offenders’ for poor phone etiquette in restaurants. The chef also expressed his opinion that the dining experience of other guests should not be undermined by the use of cell phones during meals at restaurants.
In addition to his criticism of the trend for special weight loss menus, Ramsay also mentioned his new restaurant Bonheur in London’s Mayfair district, which will not be flooded with TikTokers, as he believes the presence of influencers will negatively impact the dining experience.
