Ukrainian Banks Fund 97 MW of New Power Generation in October
From June 2024 to November 1, 2025, Ukrainian banks have been financing business projects aimed at developing power generation capacity, with a total of 1.239 gigawatts (GW) of new generation projects secured. This represents an 8.5% increase in monthly financing for power development, with October marking the latest contribution of 97 megawatts (MW) to the total.
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reported that the financing of these projects is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and ensure a reliable power supply. The increased funding comes at a critical time as Ukraine continues to recover from the damage caused by the ongoing conflict with Russia, with energy security remaining a key priority.
According to the NBU, the financing of these projects has been facilitated through various mechanisms, including loans, grants, and other financial instruments designed to support the development of renewable energy sources and modernize the country’s power grid. The 97 MW added in October is a significant contribution to the total of 1.239 GW, indicating a consistent and growing investment in Ukraine’s energy sector.
The positive trend in financing reflects both the commitment of Ukrainian banks to support national development goals and the broader economic stability that has been maintained despite the challenges posed by the conflict. Analysts suggest that the continued investment in energy infrastructure is likely to have positive long-term effects on Ukraine’s economy, including job creation and increased energy independence.
