Trump Orders Investigation into Epstein’s Ties to Clinton and Other Prominent Democrats

On November 14, 2025, US President Donald Trump directed the Department of Justice to investigate the alleged ties between late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and prominent Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton, ex-Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, and JPMorgan Chase bank. The probe was initiated following the release of 20,000 pages of documents from Epstein’s estate by the US House Oversight Committee, which Democrats have used to draw comparisons between Trump’s past relationship with Epstein and the ongoing investigation. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump accused Democrats of using the Epstein case to shift focus from the government shutdown and other failures. Attorney General Pam Bondi assigned US Attorney Jay Clayton to lead the investigation.

Epstein, who died by suicide in a prison cell in 2019, was known for his connections to many wealthy individuals. Clinton stated in his 2024 memoir that he had no knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and severed ties with him after his 2006 arrest. Similarly, Trump claimed he was unaware of Epstein’s offenses and cut contact with him in the early 2000s. JPMorgan, which settled lawsuits over allegations of continuing to work with Epstein post-2006 arrest, denied aiding his crimes and criticized the government for not sharing ‘damaging information.’ House Democrats are also preparing to vote on releasing more unredacted files from the Epstein case.
