St. Petersburg Introduces AI-Powered Patrols to Target Hazardous Icicles

St. Petersburg has introduced an AI-powered system called Gorodovoy to address the increasing risk of icicle-related accidents. The initiative, which consists of eight specialized vehicles, is designed to patrol the city and scan buildings as they pass, identifying potential hazards such as unstable ice formations.

The city’s transportation department announced the deployment of Gorodovoy as part of its broader efforts to improve public safety during harsh winter conditions. The system uses advanced scanning technology to assess the structural integrity of icicles and alert city officials to areas requiring immediate attention.

This move reflects a growing trend of integrating artificial intelligence into urban infrastructure management. By leveraging AI, St. Petersburg aims to reduce the number of incidents caused by falling icicles, which have led to injuries and property damage in previous years. The city is also exploring the possibility of expanding the program to other regions facing similar challenges.
