UK Warns of Chinese Espionage via LinkedIn Campaign Targeting Lawmakers

MI5 has issued an ‘espionage alert’ warning that Chinese intelligence operatives are using LinkedIn and recruitment fronts to target UK lawmakers for information gathering and long-term relationships. The alert highlights the use of professional networking platforms and consultants acting on behalf of the Chinese Ministry of State Security. Home Office Minister Dan Jarvis said the government is taking measures to address the risk, including investing 170 million pounds in encrypted technology. Opposition parties have expressed concerns that authorities are not doing enough and are too cautious in dealing with China.
