Del. Stacey Plaskett Defends Past Contact with Epstein

Virgin Islands Delegate Stacey Plaskett has refused to express regret over her prior communications with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a case that has drawn significant political attention. In a recent interview with CNN’s ‘The Situation Room,’ Plaskett stated she had no remorse for her contact with Epstein during a 2019 House Oversight Committee hearing. She argued that Epstein, whom she described as a constituent, provided information that she believed could lead to uncovering the truth.

Plaskett, who has been under recent scrutiny following the release of texts from Epstein’s estate, claimed that she had been in contact with numerous individuals and had used their information as part of her investigative process. The controversy resurged with the release of messages from Epstein, which revealed details about her interactions with him. Despite the public backlash, Plaskett insisted that she had acted within the bounds of her legal profession, asserting that she was simply seeking information as a prosecutor would.

Her stance was further highlighted when she stated she would not have pursued the inquiry into former Trump executive assistant Rhona Graff without Epstein’s texts. The documents provided crucial insight into how the information exchange occurred, including an exchange where Epstein seemingly directed her to ask Cohen about Graff. Plaskett’s continued defense and the political fallout from her past actions have kept the case in the public eye, with ongoing legal efforts to ensure transparency regarding the federal case against Epstein.
