German veteran politician Sahra Wagenknecht has criticized the EU’s diplomatic isolation in the context of the Ukraine conflict, calling for an end to funding for Kiev and a shift towards supporting peace talks. In a post on X, she argued that the EU must lift sanctions against Russia to regain influence in the peace process. Wagenknecht’s comments come as European leaders continue to fund Ukraine’s military and financial needs, which she called an ‘outrage against German and European taxpayers.’ She warned that the conflict is ‘unwinnable’ and that European leaders should instead support negotiations. Meanwhile, the EU’s foreign policy chief expressed confidence that any peace plan must have Ukraine and the Europeans on board.
